As I walked into the interior of the Oasis of the Seas for the first time, I was blown away by the city like feel. We first arrived in the Promenade, which if you didn't know you were on a ship would have seemed liked you were walking through a mall. Restaurants, bars, cafes, and shape made up the long expanse of space. Every detail of decoration intensified the unique themes of each location. The Promenade is always filled with music spilling from the karaoke bar to the latin club. That day I was surprised as each of the 16 levels of the ship amazed me with their opulence and venues for every age and interest.
Two of the main areas on the ship that separates it from others were the Central Park and Boardwalk. The Central Park beat all odds by being the first area on a ship to house living plants. The spacious area is filled with winding paths, a wide range of tropical plants, and quaint places to eat. From day to night, Central Park has a "Disney" like magic and is a great place to read on a bench or listen to beautiful live music.
On the other end of the ship, the Boardwalk holds a whole different personality. With its carousel, cupcake shop, and carnival-esque decor it is a great place for families. It gives people the opportunity to enjoy activities that they would have on other types of vacations. This area also contains the rock climbing walls and Aqua Theater. Seeing the Oasis divers plummet into the water from incredible heights makes anyone gasp with excitement. This space also has a special feel, as it is located at the very back of the ship and the white, foamy path can be seen.
One of the best characteristics of cruise ships are the wide range of amenities just for adults and just for children. I personally love the Solarium, an adult-only area with a pool, two hot tubs, and dozens of comfy places to lounge and soak up the sun. Being located on the very front of the ship, it is not filled with the loud noises of the other pools. It offers a great spot to get away from the crowds and enjoy a good book. Another great space for rest and relaxation is the Vitality Spa. With a long menu of treatments from massages and facial treatments to acupuncture and teeth whitening the spa offers numerous choices. On the other side of the spectrum is the colorful and playful kids pool area. It features various water sprinklers, a lazy pool, and vibrant 3-D structures that can entertain the kids all afternoon long. Another option for children is the kids clubs. These employee run kids centers are perfect for you if you want a quiet dinner or want to dance the night away at one of the clubs. There are different spaces for each age group from infants to teens so each child gets to be with their peers and enjoy specific activities just for them!
With such a massive ship, there is multiple places to eat. Many of the restaurants are complimentary, which gives cruisers the opportunity to try different types of food and venues for no additional cost. For instance, the Central Park Café is a great place for all meals. The Café is a quiet place with an assortment of breakfast options from made to order bagels and breakfast muffins. For lunch, the roast beef sandwiches are famous. This setting provides a peaceful place away from the hectic masses. Options for dinner are also vast. The main dining room provides a fun experience of a complimentary three-course meal with remarkable waiters and beautiful decor. The specialty restaurants are also a special option, even if they are an extra charge. There is Italian, Asian, and a steak house that provide a unique occasion.
I hope that this overview of the unique amenities the Oasis of the Seas offers shows you just how special each ship can be. Some people judge it by its size, saying it is just too big, but don't judge a cruise by the number of people it holds. With such a large space, everyone can find something for them that will make their vacation even more special.
